Pathogen genetic detection

Infectious diseases are usually caused by pathogenic microbial infections and can pose a serious threat to human health. Reliable and effective diagnostic methods for pathogens are important tools for the prevention and control of infectious diseases. Traditional pathogenic microbiological tests often have low sensitivity or low specificity, which makes them show limitations in diagnosing low concentration samples, mixed infections or unexplained infections. The detection of pathogens requires rapid, cost-effective, accurate, high-throughput and automated detection.

Digital PCR has the following advantages: Absolute quantification, independent of standards and reference curves; High sensitivity, allowing detection at the single molecule level; high resolution, adept at detecting rare target templates in the presence of large amounts of background template interference; High stability, with greatly enhanced resistance to PCR amplification inhibitors. The above advantages of digital PCR can provide more objective and accurate results for clinical pathogen detection.
Examples are as follows:

Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19)
The coronavirus can be used for screening of asymptomatic patients with a history of exposure, diagnostic review of suspected patients (can be used to determine suspicious samples with Ct values between 37-40 by fluorescent PCR), and dynamic observation of viral load in infected patients to help determine disease and adjust treatment strategies in a timely manner;

Pneumonia 5
It is a new method for rapid detection of pneumonia, which solves the problems of difficult culture, long detection period and low diagnostic rate of lower respiratory tract infection pathogens;

Respiratory fungus
Accurate identification (target fungi can be identified to species), high sensitivity, tolerance to common PCR inhibitors in complex samples (e.g. sputum), and advantages in distinguishing colonization or infection of different target fungi in the clinic;

Hepatitis B virus
It is used to evaluate the efficacy of hepatitis B patients, accurately monitor the timing of functional cure, rationalize drug discontinuation and reduce relapse.
